The Entrepreneur Competition is an annual competition which started in 2011 by the ILembe Chamber of Commerce Industry and Tourism (ICCIT). The competition has now been rolled out provincially to other business chambers driven by the KwaZulu-Natal Business Chambers Council (KBCC) and the Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA). This year over 50 businesses participated in the competition.
Participation in the competition includes a 19 week long intense business modelling training endorsed by both the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and USA-based Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The training includes group and one-on-one mentorship with chamber accredited mentors and upon completion contestants receive a certificate of completion from UKZN.
The Provincial finals are schedules for the 16th and 17th of February in Durban, where the top 3 from each region will once again exhibit their businesses competing for the ultimate title of The Entrepreneur 2016.
