The energy and enthusiasm of our mentors is an invaluable part of the Shanduka Black Umbrellas programme. Their dedication and generosity in sharing their knowledge and skills is fundamental to the development of emerging black businesses and to the economic prosperity of South Africa.

Meet these special people who contribute their value every day.

It doesn’t pay. But guess what? I think the fulfillment that you get in supporting and developing entrepreneurs, it just keeps you going. Very often when I come and spend time with the Shanduka Black Umbrellas mentees, I often had to take off time from work, which cost me money. But when I spend time in their businesses and start see what they grappling with I realize that I was once exactly where they are. And its so much easier for me to say to them “don’t do this, don’t do that” because I have bumped my head there the first time
