Previous experience: Before joining Road Accident Fund, I was an Associate Director at Deloitte responsible for partnering with organisations to become risk intelligent and elevating risk management to be a strategic enabler of the organisations and implementation of GRC (Governance, Risk and Compliance) frameworks.
I have also been responsible for giving risk strategic direction, leadership and guidance on the development, implementation and sustainability of risk management Framework & Methodologies in organisations like Vodacom, Momentum and lots of others organisations in different industries, through my responsibilities at Deloitte.
Family: I have been married for years to my high school sweetheart Zazi, my friend and the wind beneath my wings! I have 3 amazing, beautiful and God-fearing children (Louis –the gentleman, Thandolwethu-the philosopher and Kwethaba –the jolly one), who are the completion of our joy.
The thing you like most about yourself: I like my passion, drive and positive outlook to life. I like the ability that God graced me with, which is to unleash greatness in other people, which is why I have a NPO whose focus is to mentor and groom young girls from less privileged background and help them rise above their circumstances / situations by making right choices, as we instil in them that they are not the results of their circumstances but their choices.
The thing you like least about yourself: I am sure if I have to think hard there is a lot I could get but I have made a choice to appreciate everything including my shortcomings, weaknesses and imperfections. So I have learnt to like even my least likable attributes the same, ’cause it also makes who I am.
Your favourite hobbies: Charitable work, spending time with my family, travelling, soccer and “googling”(google)
A quote that inspires you: “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me”.
However my teenage boy (Thandolwethu) has developed his own just yesterday which says “Surround yourself with people who have a positive and great mindset and better level of thinking that you”. I was really inspired by this and his level of thinking at only 15 years.
What do you love most about what you do? Work wise – I enjoy igniting passion from the organisations and other Risk practitioners to derive value from Risk Management.
Outside work – Seeing somebody becoming a best person they can be and realising their untapped potential.
What music are you listening to? I listen to R&B, House and Gospel
What book are you currently reading? “It’s not how good you are, it’s how good you want to be” by Paul Arden; and “The confident woman” by Joyce Meyer
Who is your greatest icon? There are far too many…
